Quality and Performance

Device Baseline chooses a starting profile for this device. Quality Profile changes several rendering controls; frame-rate preference is separate.

Where to find it

Mac

Playback Adjustments › Quality Profile. Fine-tune rendering opens Settings › Rendering.

iPhone and iPad

Playback Adjustments › Quality Profile. Fine-tune rendering opens Settings › Rendering.

How it works

  1. Low through Ultra trade visual detail for GPU work. A higher profile is not always smoother. Start with Device Baseline and compare during rehearsal.
  2. Internal resolution controls rendered pixels. Reconstruction scales them to the output. Fluid detail controls persistent simulation resources; output dimensions cap resolution.
  3. Scene controls adjust materials, shadows, and transitions. Rendering strategy and performance protection govern the work allowed under load; consult Current configuration for the effective settings.
  4. Changing quality can rebuild the fluid simulation resources and briefly interrupt a live visual. Choose quality before performing when possible. Fixed rendering keeps your chosen detail; performance protection can reduce the frame rate when the device is under load.

Tips

Mobile defaults target 30 FPS and Mac targets 60 FPS, unless changed. Native resolution, Extreme fluid detail, layers, and external output can raise heat. Ultra is a quality choice, not a performance guarantee.
