Audio Input
Choose the sound the analyzer hears. Source selection and permission affect capture; response controls affect what happens after sound arrives.
Where to find it
Mac
Settings › Audio Input. System Audio captures Mac playback; Microphone or an audio device captures its selected input.
iPhone and iPad
Settings › Audio Input › Microphone & USB-C. iPhone and iPad cannot capture music directly from another app.
How it works
- Start Listening and grant the requested permission. On Mac, system capture may require Screen & System Audio Recording permission; microphone capture requires Microphone permission.
- Select the intended input. On iPhone and iPad, Automatic prefers a connected USB-C audio interface; otherwise use the device microphone.
- Check Active input and the level meter before calibrating. Music playing on a TV or receiver reaches the microphone acoustically, not through Screen Mirroring.
Tips
If permission was denied, enable it in the operating system settings, return, and start listening again. Mono microphone input is supported.
